Purpose
Developing and building of essential literacy and numeracy skills in children and in families.
Description
Programs provide a variety of literacy based activities and services for families and children up to 12 years of age. These services aim to engage both children and their families in developing literacy and numeracy skills in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Our literacy programs encourage shared learning and skill development of children, parents and caregivers.
Key programming includes: Shared Beginnings: a parent/caregiver & child program for families with children 0-6 years of age focused on the development of literacy and numeracy skills through fun interactive activities; Family Math: a program for families with children in grades 2-5 to support and nurture the love of math; Family Literacy Events: various community events throughout NE London and Argyle community; Books & Breakfast: literacy based activities offered in conjunction with summer breakfast program in NE London.
